When the World Shakes, God Sets the Table

The news is heavy right now: conflict and fragile ceasefires, threats around shipping lanes, war in Ukraine, violence in Haiti, and an Ebola outbreak in Congo. It is enough to make fear pull up a chair, unfold a spreadsheet, and announce, "I have prepared twelve reasons to panic before breakfast."

But Scripture gives fear a shorter meeting.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). Not absent. Not delayed. Not checking His calendar. Present.

Fear says, "What if there is not enough?"

God says, "Seek first My kingdom."

Fear says, "What if everything falls apart?"

God says, "I am your refuge."

Fear says, "You need to carry tomorrow today."

Jesus says, "Today has enough trouble of its own" (Matthew 6:34).

God's provision is not always a warehouse dropped from heaven. Sometimes it is daily bread. Sometimes it is wisdom for the next step. Sometimes it is peace that makes no sense on paper. Sometimes it is a friend, a job lead, a timely word, a quiet courage, or the strength to keep loving when the world is acting like it misplaced its manners.

The same God who provided manna in the wilderness still knows how to feed His children in uncertain places. The same Jesus who calmed storms still speaks peace into anxious hearts. The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is not intimidated by today's headlines.

So breathe. Not because the world is calm, but because God is near.

Fear does not get to be your shepherd.

The Lord already has that position filled.
